Okoume Plywood Products Introduction
Okoume plywood, also known as Marine Plywood, comes from the Okoume tree, a medium-sized hardwood native to Africa. It is approximately 8%–12% lighter than standard plywood, making it the lightest of all marine-grade options. Sometimes spelled “Okume,” this plywood is highly valued in industries where weight reduction is critical.
Meeting the stringent BS 1088 Marine Standard, Okoume plywood features uniform thickness across each veneer layer and is entirely void-free. Renowned for its excellent bending strength, it is versatile and easy to work with. Its smooth surface makes it ideal for painting, staining, or leaving natural, depending on design requirements.
Durable and Waterproof
Manufactured with WBP (Weather and Boil Proof) glue, Okoume plywood resists delamination and performs exceptionally well in humid or wet environments. Each veneer layer is crafted from the same species (Okoume, Fir, or Meranti) with minimal core gaps to prevent water retention, ensuring a strong, stable bond. It also resists fungal attack, maintaining durability even under long-term moisture exposure.
Environmentally Friendly Choice
Okoume is a fast-growing species, making it a sustainable and eco-conscious option. As a renewable hardwood, it supports environmentally responsible building practices without compromising strength, durability, or performance.
